"The Social Reckoning" REVIEW
It was a social reckoning that lead to a former Facebook employee who bravely went on record to let the world know about the corruption that the media conglomerate was doing to its users all in the name of “news”. It was that corruption that caused the Supreme Court to take action and change the way we view social media and how the media moguls seek to control it.
Based on true events, The Social Reckoning shows some very realistic clips of people who seek to post the most outrageous things that the media moguls use in their manipulation of what people see.
All in all, the powerful film is a solid sequel, non-sequel from the original Social Network that came out in 2010 and set up the road to the network called Facebook. It contains some rather strong performances including Jeremy Allen White who does an exceptional job of portraying the Wall Street reporter, Jeff Horwitz, as well as Anora’s Mikey Madison who takes a more serious role of the tech student, seeking justice over the lies that Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg (played by Jeremy Strong) ultimately tries to cover up from the news media. Finally the cast wouldn’t be complete without Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen and Patrick Fischler, all of who deliver performances certainly worthy of Award winning acts.
The Social Reckoning came out in theaters October 8th and is currently playing in one near you. See it and relive the truth of one of the most infamous media platforms around.
