CREATE Funding Options in Education
Today's word problem. Is debt becoming our legacy, and if so, how much of our debt is from education? It is Wednesday, and while taxes are knocking on our door, what really is keeping us up at night is student loan debt. At Leadon Family Foundation, we are studying ways and financial projects that the define our Legacy as being what we leave our kids and how it becomes a perennial Orchard. Bad and lingering debt is bad fruit. Good investment in education for future generations produces good and lasting fruit.
CREATE Breakthrough
In the 1950s, advertising executives had a marketing epiphany that caught on with clients. They would open up streams of consciousness, that would take any idea and make it worthy. Write stuff on whiteboards and launch campaigns. They called it a Brainstorm. Everyone is doing it! The Brainstorm is applied to all kinds of industry and yet it is often a waste of time. I have had some luck at Brainstorm Sessions. There was a time that I created a comedy club, where the comedians did a stand up routine on each of The Ten Commandments, complete with a laugh track. Moses loved it!

Breakthrough Index and Analysis
Education is billed by Credit Hour and even with life experience credit a student pays for each credit that they experienced and tested out of! Breakthrough Sessions take real life experience and problem solving by asking the right questions! Discussion, objectives and action points are put onto index cards, into reports and products and services and endeavors or initiatives come from these sessions.

CREATE Perpetual Educational Funds
How could it work if education was a pure investment with matching funds that have a high return? And the return goes into perpetual motion to graduate programs and to family members for generations to come?

Occupy Main Street
See how Breakthrough open ended questions spark discussion? Remember Occupy Wall Street? I was in New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh and spoke to the protesters. The beef was, for the most part, that they felt they were entitled to the six figure income they were promised when they took out student loans! When Wall Street couldn't hire them they occupied Wall Street. Objectively I asked the Breakthrough Question- "Why don't you create something?" Hundreds of MBAs with thousands of dollars of student loan debt, crying and cursing the street they are occupying." Let us CREATE Breakthrough!
