CORE Respondents

Sound Century Academy of Recording Arts and Broadcasting and Media Library was founded on March 10, 2022. However, my career since 1970 has archived material that reflects the Sound of Broadcasts — truly great advertising, literature, and music. Mostly, as a recording artist, journalist, and historian, what was keeping me up at night was that our sound history has been recorded on several formats since I began my career. Reel-to-reel, cassettes, DAT and ADAT tapes, records, 78s, 45s, and 33⅓s are stored in attics, basements, and storage units — and in many cases, the equipment to play them is becoming obsolete.

Dust to Dust

Many recordings are disintegrating. VHS and Beta, compact discs, and a crowded cloud have been band-aids. AI is not a substitute for authentic remixing and mastering. It calls for training, entrepreneurial solutions, and staying a step — or three — ahead of technology.

CORE Respondents

In our studio alliance in Colorado, Park Peters knows the quintessential elements of tape. He is blind, but knows exactly what he must do to preserve and digitize recordings. He is the last of a breed who works in every format. Our preservation and digitization starts with Audio Park in Arvada.

Content Rules

My vision is to train journalists, authors, writers, and musicians to become CORE Respondents — those who Create daily, Organize activities, Report, Record, and Respond to stories in their regions, and help communities create responsible entrepreneurial solutions to the economic, ecological, and elemental challenges they face in the communities they serve.

Orchards

Diligence and discipline produce perennial orchards. Our legacies need not have our names plastered on monuments. Good fruit — orchards of words, music, art, photography, footage, theater, concerts, speeches, and documentaries — done by authentic human beings and passed on to future generations.
