Maldonado Beach Resort Cities Focus of Infrastructure Development
Within the framework of the budget modification, currently under review by the Maldonado Board and prepared by the administration headed by Miguel Abella, the goal is to promote genuine decentralization so that every resource reaches every corner of the department.
In the jurisdiction of the Municipality of Maldonado, the widening and repaving of Leandro Gómez Avenue is underway, along with sidewalks, bike paths, and lighting, with an investment exceeding 170 million pesos.

Meanwhile, in the Hipódromo neighborhood, the construction of a roundabout, internal roads, and the rehabilitation of Route 39 are planned. The objective is to improve access and expedite traffic in the area. The estimated cost is 288 million pesos.
Throughout the Municipality of Maldonado, 419 million pesos will be invested in the construction and maintenance of streets, bike paths, and sidewalks, while an additional 66 million pesos will be allocated to road infrastructure, curbs and gutters, and paving.
Due to the relocation of 185 families from the Los Eucaliptus settlement, various road works are also necessary in that area, and the budget amendment allocates 44 million pesos for this purpose.
The Municipality will also allocate 104 million pesos to address stormwater drainage issues with new pipes and sewers, as well as replacing existing pipes with larger diameter ones.
Maintenance work will also be carried out at Piria Castle for 15 million pesos to preserve and enhance a site of high historical, cultural, and tourist value for the department.
Currently, some of its facilities are in precarious condition, with visible deterioration, such as the "laboratory" where the structural beams are exposed, posing risks to users and affecting the proper preservation of the building.
In Punta del Este, significant projects are planned for a destination that receives countless tourists year after year.
The bike path on Roosevelt Avenue is one such project, creating a safe corridor, improving road safety, and promoting active mobility for users. The investment is 13 million pesos.
The renovation of Gorlero Avenue will improve accessibility, safety, and the quality of public spaces in Punta del Este's main commercial and tourist corridor.
This project will contribute to strengthening the city's urban image and providing better conditions for residents, businesses, and visitors, with an investment of 60 million pesos.
Punta del Este will also receive paved roads, streets, bike paths, and sidewalks, with an investment of 184 million pesos, and an additional 59 million pesos will be invested in road infrastructure, curbs, and paving.
