CREATE A Canvas Campus

College bound students and those of us who are still paying for college are slowly understanding that there are options to customize a college experience that fits thei disposition, natural skills and aptitude. The New Campus is looking more like a blank canvas that they are able to design and CREATE at a price they can afford.

For two decades community colleges have offered High School students an onramp while still getting their High School Diplomas. And more recently many community colleges have become State Colleges offering 4 year undergraduate degrees. The Virtual Campus is fast becoming a Community Campus that has students involved in the work that they are made and built for on Main Street, Mobile, Back on the Farm and the Ranch or in Media and Arts and Computer Science.

Last week at CREATE Daily I reported that 3 of 4 people were starting their own businesses. This trend may be attributed to side hustle, or employers stances on workers returning on-site. It does not tell us how many students are actually starting businesses for real world experience and college credit.

Entrepreneurial Education in most industries is an answer to old managerial practices of lean and mean. While some old school entrepreneurs are all for doing more with less, it is a recipe for disaster. Short handed and fatigued staffs cannot meet demands, let alone provide solutions to challenges that communities are facing.

On the TAG Team and Mentor Hill at the Colorado Chapter of the Leadon Family Foundation, leaders are thinking and taking action in the communities they serve through stocking the reservoirs with talent. This includes student led initiatives and succession plans in their communities, in Parks and Recreation, Health, Nutrition and Wellness. Focus on Higher and Continuing Education, Culinary, Hospitality, Ecological, Economic, Arts, Media, Science, Travel and Transportation all related to training and development in Entrepreneurship. This stems from online education but is less virtual and more in practice at home through work and in the communities we serve.
