Thousands of runners from around the world will descend on Miami this weekend as the city hosts the 2026 Miami Marathon, one of South Florida's premier running events.

The marathon, scheduled for Sunday morning, will feature a full 26.2-mile course winding through some of Miami's most iconic neighborhoods and waterfront areas. Organizers expect over 25,000 participants across the full marathon, half marathon, and associated relay events.

"This is always one of the highlights of our year," said race director Maria Gonzalez. "We're expecting perfect running weather and an incredible atmosphere throughout the city."

The full marathon will kick off at 6:00 a.m. from downtown Miami, with the course taking runners through Brickell, Coconut Grove, and along the scenic Rickenbacker Causeway to Key Biscayne before looping back to the finish line in Bayfront Park.

Road closures will begin as early as 5:00 a.m. Sunday and are expected to last until early afternoon in some areas. Residents and commuters should plan alternate routes, particularly along Biscayne Boulevard, Brickell Avenue, and the Rickenbacker Causeway.

Local businesses are preparing for the influx of visitors, with many restaurants and hotels reporting full bookings for the weekend. The marathon is estimated to bring millions of dollars in economic impact to the area.

For spectators, prime viewing locations include Bayfront Park, the Brickell Avenue corridor, and various points along the causeway. The marathon will also feature live entertainment and water stations throughout the course.

Registration for the 2026 race closed last month, but organizers are already accepting early registration for the 2027 event. More information is available at the official Miami Marathon website.
