CREATE Business Unusual
I attended a networking event in my little town. There was a good turnout. The discussion turned to the fact that at in a town with a few thousand folks, the major industry is not for profit. The event was a Rotary Club recruiting event. There were teachers and a few business owners but more so there were retired men and women. Of everyone there my wife and I were a third of entrepreneurs. It illustrates a bigger obstacle in rural Colorado, one that could be the solution to the next generation vacating Main Street. Entrepreneurship needs to start at the Academy level.

In our little town there are not too many vacant buildings. People from Texas and Oklahoma are at least seasonal residents. They are often retirees or empty nesters. Today I met a young man who is an Arborist and wants to open a motorcycle rental shop in Golden, Colorado. He was enthusiastic and had the chops to become a serial entrepreneur. A few hours later I met with the District Governor of Rotary. Her Districr is South of Interstate 70 and bleeds south to New Mexico.
When I told her about the Colorado Chapter Committee of Leadon Family Foundation and showed her our district, she gave me her card. When I told her about CREATE Cafe, she asked for my card and subscribed to CREATE Daily. CREATE Education is where home, work and community will make the necessary moves to solve the Creative Crisis and rejoice in the obstacle course.
There are challenges and obstacles that are facing Colorado that we will not get over, or around but we can go through together. CREATE Together at the monthly cafe. A think, act group in the community, recreation, education, arts, transportation/travel and entrepreneurship. Join us by emailing richardbeattie809@gmail.com.
