I wrote a song about downsizing a few years ago, and as we journey on through this life it has become more apparent that carrying less baggage offers more flexibility for community building; recreation, education, arts/media, and entrepreneurship and documentation. When we moved to a small town in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, we bought a mixed use building and an acre of land. On that land we have three floors- a suite space for living in a walk-out basement, a shop for my wife's music store on the main floor and my media studio. We downsized with our music, sound systems and portable studio. Digital media publishing is portable. I do not golf anymore, I have one FlingStick for FlingGolf. The music store is a music school and deals with instruments for travel and camping. Our excercises, recipes, and daily SUCCESS Planning are all on ebooks on a memory stick or thumbdrive. In fact my entire musical library, books, documents, journals are on the stick, as well as source media that I I remix are on a media stick and external harddrives. Between cell phones, roku, a portable keyboard and a laptop or i-pad we are well connected at home, at work and in the communities that we serve or travel to.

Campus -Canvas and CREATE

An entire MBA program can be put onto a memory stick. Years ago there was a great book that was titled "The Portable MBA," today that has never been so true. In order for me to do business and to get contracts, or other documents signed, I can use the thumb-drive and pull up and organize files. Scrapbooking, prescriptions, documents, artwork galleries and intelectual property can be filed in a thumbdrive and an external hard drive. Family history, business history and just history can be found on portable drives. And finally travel itenearies, agendas and business plans can all be stored on a thumbdrive. In the next ten years office space, brick and mortar schools and college campuses will be rare. Small groups at home, through work and in community will meet at CREATE Cafes. Fellowship will become more intimate and from where you are rather than mass-gatherings. And you and I will be able to travel as part of our learning and living excursions.

In these days of wildfires and water damage, our journals, our scrapbooks, and our documents and histories are vunerable to being obliterated. This summer I will be scanning my father, mothers and family memories with my sibblings. I do this as a media publisher, recording artist, and author, and realize that my own family memories need to be saved before they cannot. It is about time that we all get on the stick!
