Burger Boy had officially opened its doors and services in late 2012 and was overtaken by the Jones family in 2017. The business and land itself has been operating prior to 2012, serving its community in a warm, welcoming way. Since its start, Burger Boy has won the hearts and stomachs of Murphy.

As of 2025, a new landlord by the name of Nghi Tran, bought and took over the property in a seemingly unexpected manner. In 2027, Burger Boy could have secured a firm ten-years in running their business, however, as of May 14th, 2026, Tran had sent a 30-day notice for the Jones family to vacate the property without legal confrontation, and inform Burger Boy that the property may be sold or used for Tran’s potential restaurant. Many commentators insist that the letter Jones had attached into the post that was sent by the landlord was unprofessional and lacking details of a formal leasing letter. Trevor Jones, the owner of Burger Boy, states, “While we understand that property owners have the right to make business decisions, the suddenness of this notice and the lack of prior communication has been incredibly difficult for our family, staff, and everyone who has helped make Burger Boy what it is today.”

In the post Burger Boy had created, Jones explicitly shows a letter of Tran stating a request for handover of leased restaurant premises, alongside detailed bullet points stating exactly what must be done. From removing all assets such as machinery, equipment, and personal belongings, to settling in full rental, utilities, service charges, and etc., up to the time of the handover.

Unfortunately, due to the abruptness of the situation, the Jones family has no current known to relocate and secure another restaurant business. For them, Burger Boy has always been more than just a restaurant to operate. It was a second home, and for many locals, from hungry Bulldog players, to food lovers, to tourists and locals, it was a prime building block to build relationships and enjoy familiar banter in the small town of Murphy. The Jones family, in their post, add that they will continue to serve the community until they near the deadline of June 14th, 2026.
