Armed Student Taken Into Custody at Riverside High School
LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — A student at Riverside High School was taken into custody Monday afternoon after law enforcement officials say he brought a loaded firearm onto school grounds following a threatening post on social media.
According to the Lake County Sheriff's Office, school administrators and a resource officer were alerted at approximately 1:55 p.m.

To a social media post that raised immediate safety concerns. The post, authorities say, was made while the student was still inside the building.
School officials responded swiftly, placing Riverside High School on lockdown as sheriff's deputies rushed to the scene.
The student believed to be responsible was located quickly, and deputies confirmed he was in possession of a firearm at the time of his arrest.
The student was taken into custody without incident. No students or staff members were reported injured, and the lockdown was lifted after approximately 20 minutes.
Lake County Sheriff Frank Leonbruno confirmed the investigation is ongoing and did not immediately release additional details about the nature of the social media post or the type of firearm recovered.

In a letter sent home to parents and guardians following the incident, Riverside school administrators said additional sheriff's deputies would be stationed on campus for the foreseeable future as a precautionary measure.
Authorities have not released the student's name or age, citing standard protocols for juvenile offenders.
No further charges or court dates have been publicly announced at this time.
