Construction Begins on New Residential Development at 1680 Alton Road in Miami Beach
Construction has officially commenced on a new mixed-use residential development at 1680 Alton Road, situated at the prominent corner of Alton Road and Lincoln Road in Miami Beach, Florida — marking a significant shift in the vision for one of the city's most closely watched development sites.
The project, now known as The Alton, is being led by Infinity Collective, which acquired the property in September 2025 for $28.2 million through a deed-in-lieu-of-foreclosure from developer Michael Shvo. The transaction effectively transferred control of the site — encompassing addresses at 1656–1680 Alton Road and 1677 West Avenue — away from Shvo's firm, which had been facing foreclosure on the planned development.
A Change in Direction

Under Shvo's original vision, The Alton was designed as a bold, 6-story, 250,000-square-foot luxury commercial destination. The plan called for approximately 170,000 square feet of Class A office space, 17,000 square feet of retail, and just five ultra-luxury residences — all designed by the globally renowned architecture firm Foster + Partners.
However, Infinity Collective has pivoted the project toward a predominantly residential focus, reflecting broader market trends that have seen demand for office space soften in the post-pandemic era while demand for high-end Miami Beach housing remains strong. The new development will incorporate both residential units and retail space, replacing the large office component that defined the original proposal.

A Prime Miami Beach Location
The site's location at the corner of Alton Road and Lincoln Road places it at one of Miami Beach's most desirable intersections — steps from the iconic Lincoln Road pedestrian mall, a hub of dining, shopping, and cultural activity. The surrounding neighborhood has seen sustained interest from developers and residents alike, making this project a high-profile addition to the area's evolving skyline.

What's Next
With construction now underway, residents and commuters in the area can expect activity at the site in the months ahead. Details on the full scope of the residential program, including unit counts, pricing, and an anticipated completion timeline, are expected to be released by Infinity Collective as the project progresses.
The development represents one of the more notable ownership and use transitions in recent Miami Beach real estate history, and its progress will be closely watched by the local community and the broader South Florida development industry.
