CREATE A Short Course on Obstacles
As a journalist, artist, and musician, my daily tasks are to CREATE daily at home, through work and in community. I have an addictive and contagious personality, most of that comes from coffee, curiosity and diligence. On the way home or to work I have run into a few obstacles. Most of it is perspective, another hazard are my own communication skills and of course it is what angle that I had been looking at or someone else is. I wonder how many times we CREATE Crisis where there is none. And how many times we are offended when there is no offense. I have been enough obstacle courses to realize that we do not have as many politcal, economic, ecological, mid-life or ethical, mental crises, as we think we do. All of these crises points, stem from an accute Crises to be Creative! For the last five years I have written, drawn, recorded and photographed what has become The CREATE Curriculum. It takes what we think is focus, and instead of looking at it as "a problem," sees the problem as an obstacle. "Can't go over it, can't go around it, you have to go through it."
The Essence of Creation is Recreation
My mantra is to Create Daily. As a writer, the essence of writing is rewriting! Each day, I go through the obstacles of writing by writing and telling the story of instead of a conflict an obstacle. Every day is full of obstacles- temptations, laziness, people, places and things and sometimes the people who are creating obstacles are in the mirror. Tell the story and rewrite it! Or as I have been told "change the narrative."

Unique Uses for Human Resources
The second obstacle we go through is how we use and recognize our unique skill sets. We can't get over it, around it, so we must go through it. We have to make the choice on how we tell our stories. Is it a script, a song, a chapter, book or comedy sketch? A romantic comedy or a tragedy? Some writer's call it our "Love Language." How do you best respond to which is what illustrates the usefullness of our skill set.
Collaborative Breakthroughs
Knowing the skill sets and unique super powers of the people you collaborate are what we say in coaching is good soccer strategy. Every person "plays their game" and each one knows where the other is at all times. When I am doing someone elses job, I fail to do what I do best and I play "out of position." You can make that analogy at work, at school, or church, but by doing too much, or trying to do it on your own, is hardly ever ever productive.
Cultivation of Ideas
Cultivating daily ideas is a form of distribution. A system of development is where a Think and Action Team is most effective. CREATE Daily- is a space to share ideas, strategize what obstacles we go through together and who on the team is best to carry these to production and market. And we must go through the learning process together, to be effective.
Endeavor and Excursion
A short course on obstacles can take you through new endeavors and a few excursions. You cannot get around a launch of a product or a service, you must travel through the experience of launching.

Serve Somebody
The sixth sense of "a short course on Obstacles," is serving others. To see what needs to be done and do it is in large part a daily task. "You can't get over service, and you can't get around service, you must go through it to understand who needs to be serve and how to serve.
CREATE and Recreate Soul Work
Everyone on our team looks at the obstacles that face our community and know how to get through it. Be it political, ecological, economical, educational, civic, health, labor, home or community obstacles, there is no shortage of Creative Resources within our minds, hearts and souls that can renew a CREATE Spirit through communication, recreation, education, arts and media, transportation and travel and entreprenuership.
