[Fictional Demo] Summers at the Beach and the Rides That Used to Be There

Before there was anything else to do in the heat, there was the beach — the stretch of the Pecos right in town where the whole of Carlsbad seemed to show up on a July afternoon.

Some of you remember the little amusement park that sat down there, the one with the rides and the lights that came on at dusk. Paddle boats on the water, snow cones melting faster than you could eat them, somebody's transistor radio going.

The rides are long gone, but the beach is still ours. Every kid in this town has a summer that lives down by that water.
