[Fictional Demo] Where the Pecos Comes Back: Walking Out on the Flume

Ask anyone who grew up here and they'll tell you about the flume — the great concrete trough that carries the Pecos over the Pecos at the edge of town. The first one washed out in a flood; the one that replaced it in 1903 was, for a while, the largest irrigation flume in the world.

We used to walk out on the catwalk on summer evenings and watch the water rush underneath, fast and green, on its way to the farms downriver. There's something about standing over a river that's crossing a river that never stopped feeling like magic.
