Authorities are investigating a fuel theft incident that occurred at Aventura Mall, one of South Florida's largest and most frequented shopping destinations.

According to preliminary reports, an unknown individual or individuals siphoned gasoline from one or more vehicles parked on the mall's premises. The incident has raised concerns among shoppers and regular visitors who rely on the parking facilities during their visits.

In one notable case, the owner of a Nissan Kicks returned to their vehicle only to find an unusual clue on the parking garage floor — directly beneath the fuel door of the car lay a children's coloring book along with a set of colored pens, items believed to have been left behind by the suspect or suspects.

Mall security and local law enforcement have been notified and are reviewing surveillance footage to identify the suspect or suspects involved. No arrests have been made at this time.

Fuel theft, while not uncommon in high-traffic commercial areas, can leave vehicle owners stranded and facing unexpected repair or fuel costs. Authorities are urging shoppers to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity around vehicles in the parking areas.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact local police or Aventura Mall security directly.
