CO-Lab: A Colorado Co-Laborative!
CREATE Weekend is my favorite. This week we invented a way to bring communities together in Colorado through a joint venture mechanism called The CO-Lab. CO-Laborers at home, through the work we were made for and in community. It is also a Colorado Laboratory where we can test this stuff in our studios!
The Needs of Colorado
From undoing the damage caused by selling water rights, to planting plants and vegetation on our Main Streets while preserving mixed-use buildings for home, work, and community — these are priorities in all communities from Denver to Trinidad, and Castle Rock to Cheyenne, Wyoming. This is an entrepreneurial opportunity that the Colorado Chapter of the Leadon Family Foundation will invest time, talent, and treasure into. CO-Lab is the vehicle that can help.
Radon Testing
Eight out of ten homes in Colorado have high levels of radon due to uranium mining. There are not enough certified technicians to test and mitigate the problem. The risk is as high as smoking a pack of cigarettes a day. CO-Lab is willing to help pay for certification and training to help people start in this life-saving business.
Mashed Potatoes
As my Nanie used to say, "When life gives you Mashed Potatoes, make Tatie Scones!" Mashing music with audiobooks has made a new batch of Tatie Scones that would make Nanie happy. And if you don't like it — "Fork it!" is what my grandmother would follow up with. CO-Lab is an initiative of Beattie Communications, Sound Century Academy, and the Colorado Chapter of the Leadon Family Foundation. For ways to be part of the good work we are doing with Community, Recreation, Education, Arts, Travel, and Entrepreneurship, email Richardbeattie809@gmail.com and tell them Charlie sent you.
